Enhanced seismic base isolation using inertial amplifiers

Harnessing the concept of inertial amplification, an amplifier coupled base isolator (IABI) is proposed in this paper. The seismic performance, terms story drift, shear reduction, has been compared with that classical (CBI) and inerter-based isolation system (Inerter-BI). A thorough analytical study, implementing rationals random vibration for harmonic Gaussian white noise conducted to identify performance frequency domain. Further, a numerical study determine response time-domain based base-isolated structure twenty-two real earthquake ground motions. results elucidate histogram drift reduction percentage shifts towards higher values CBI Inerter-BI. From both it observed capacity IABI significantly 89.38% 72% superior system, respectively. This finding evidenced supremacy over inerter control.
